ORDINANCE NO. 21

AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS TO DESIGNATE LIEUTENANTS OF BARRIOS AS POSTAL AGENTS AND TO PAY THEM A COMMISSION ON THE SALE OF POSTAGE STAMPS AND STAMPED STOCK.

There being an urgent necessity of extending the postal service to as many places as possible in order to facilitate communication, and pursuant to the authority conferred upon me by Article III, section 14, of the Constitution, I, Jose P. Laurel, President of the Republic of the Philippines, do hereby promulgate this Ordinance:

SECTION 1. The Director of Communications, with the approval of the Minister of Public Works and Communications, is hereby authorized to designate lieutenants of barrios as postal facilities and to pay them a commission of ten per cent of the amount derived from the sales of postage stamps and stamped stock.

SEC. 2. All laws, orders, and ordinances or parts thereof, inconsistent herewith, are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.

SEC. 3. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its promulgation.

Done in the City of Manila, this 2nd day of June, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-four, and of the Republic of the Philippines, the first.
