EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 52

AWARDING THE DECORATION OF THE ORDER OF TIRAD PASS TO CERTAIN MEMBERS OF THE PHILIPPINE CONSTABULARY

Pursuant to the powers vested in me by law, and in accordance with the recommendation of the Board of Awards and Decorations, I, JOSE P. LAUREL, President Of the Republic of the Philippines, do hereby order:

SECTION 1. For conspicuous courage, gallantry, bravery and devotion to duty in the face of imminent danger to the extent of sacrificing their lives, the decoration of the Order of Tirad Pass is hereby humously awarded to each of the following members of the Philippine Constabulary who were all killed in action:

(a) Nine members of the Second Ilocos Sur Company, named as follows:

1. Sergeant Antero Adela
2. Corporal Sergio Batang
3. “ Elpidio Bersamina
4. “ Marciano Javines
5. “ Constante de la Cruz
6. “ Dancio Lorenzo
7. “ Alfonso Ranan
8. “ Juanito Rosales
9. “ Daniel Vister

(b) Five members of the Second Negros Occidental Company, named as follows:

1. Sergeant Raymundo Ventosa
2. Corporal Loreto Japanda
3. “ Ludovico M. Bachoco
4. “ Emilio Ferrer
5. “ Engacio Narrajos

Monetary rewards equivalent to one year’s pay and allowances corresponding to their respective ranks shall be paid to the respective legal heirs of the deceased above named.

The decoration for each recipient shall be received by his nearest kin or representative designated by the Board of Awards and Decoration.

SEC. 2. For extraordinary courage and heroism displayed while discharging voluntary service as a member of the suicide squad to rescue some barrio inhabitants who were kidnapped, and as a result of which he lost in action one of his legs, Sergeant Sotero Esperon of the 6th Company, General Services Troops, is hereby awarded the decoration of the Order of Tirad Pass. A life annuity or pension equivalent to the pay corresponding to his present rank plus such allowances as are authorized by annual appropriations for his rank shall be paid to Sergeant Sotero Espero effective upon his discharge from the service of the Philippine Constabulary for physical disability.

SEC. 3. This Order shall take effect upon its promulgation.

Done in the City of Manila, this 4th day of May, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-four, and of the Republic of the Philippines, the first.
