OFFICE OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE
EXECUTIVE COMMISSION
MALACAÑAN PALACE

BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMISSION

PROCLAMATION NO. 2

CALLING UPON THE PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES TO COMMEMORATE THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE GREATER EAST ASIA WAR BY JOINING IN THE NATIONWIDE CELEBRATION ON DECEMBER 8, 1942.

Whereas, December 8th is an important milestone in the history of the Philippines as it was on this day a year ago that the mighty forces of the Empire of Japan launched the crusade to liberate the peoples of East Asia from western domination and to establish among them a Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere on the basis of co-existence and co-prosperity;

Whereas, since the outbreak of the Greater East Asia War, the Imperial Japanese Forces have won a succession of victories on land, at sea, and in the air which have paved the way for the full realization of the above-stated objectives;

Whereas, the Greater East Asia War has been a blessing to the Philippines in particular as it has emancipated the Philippines from American domination and laid the foundations for the establishment of a New Philippines that can be a worthy member of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere; and

Whereas, to commemorate fittingly the first anniversary of the Greater East Asia War the Filipino people should dedicate the day to the encouragement of the spirit of labor and sacrifice and renew their determination to fight out the present war to achieve the complete victory of the Oriental peoples under the leadership of Japan;

Now, therefore, pursuant to the authority conferred upon me as Head of the Central Administrative Organization by Order No. 1 of the Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Japanese Forces in the Philippines, I hereby call upon the people of the Philippines to so dedicate December 8, 1942, to the encouragement of the spirit of labor and sacrifice, to display the Flag of the Rising Sun in their homes and offices, and to take part in the nationwide festivities on that occasion.

Done in the City of Manila, Philippines, this 30th day of November, 1942.
