EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 116

CONTINUING THE EXISTING CLASSIFICATIONS OF PROVINCES AND MUNICIPALITIES AND AUTHORIZING THE COMMISSIONER OF THE INTERIOR TO MAKE A GENERAL OR PARTIAL READJUSTMENT THEREOF.

Pursuant to the authority conferred upon me as Head of the Central Administrative Organization by Order No. 1 in connection with Order No. 3 of the Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Japanese Forces in the Philippines, and upon the recommendation of the Executive Commission, it is hereby ordered that—

1. The classifications of the provinces and municipalities as of January 23, 1942, are hereby continued until further orders.

2. Whenever advisable in the public interest, the Commissioner of the Interior may, with the approval of the Chairman of the Executive Commission, make from time to time a general or partial readjustment of the classification of the provinces or municipalities based on the estimated revenues of the provinces and municipalities involved for the current year excluding aids from the Central Administrative Organization, and in accordance with the graduated amounts prescribed under existing laws as basis for the classification: Provided, That no province or municipality shall be reclassified oftener than once a year.
